Stanford Handa Center for Human Rights (Student Advisory Board 2016-17)
Strategic Programming | Spring 2016 to Spring 2017
In Fall 2017, the Handa Center launched the new Human Rights minor for Stanford undergraduate students. I serve in the Student Advisory Board that recommended relevant courses geared to the Human Rights minor. Another major aspect of my role is to advise prospective students and further student engagement in community service activities to create a holistic, diverse experience in the Human Rights minor. |
UNICEF National Council 2016-17
Advocacy; Advising | Spring 2016 to Summer 2017
Currently, I serve as the UNICEF National Council Member for the Northwest and Southern California regions (7 states). My role involves being a liaison between campus club leaders and the youth engagement team at the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, strategizing on improving club recruitment in underrepresented states, and organizing the UNICEF Annual Student Summit, to be held at Washington D.C. in April 2017. At the UNICEF Summit, I was also a student speaker on the UNICEF Innovation Panel (photograph on right) and discussed my views on humanitarian aid technologies.
I also served as President of Stanford UNICEF from 2015-16, where I led efforts to expand this student group on campus in terms of education outreach, advocacy and strategic philanthropy. Examples of events we organized include a policy debate simulation on the Syrian refugee crisis which culminated in an advocacy letter to California's Congresswomen, Trick-or-Treat fundraising, and outreach to high school students about the refugee crisis.

What if you had to walk to Germany?
Learning Experience | Autumn 2015
As President of Stanford UNICEF, I, with my Education Committee Co-chairs and interested general members, designed a workshop to educate high school students from the Bay Area about the Syrian refugee crisis. We traced the route of a refugee from Syria to Germany "by foot" with "checkpoints" at Turkey, Greece and Croatia. Finally, we ended with a discussion about how UNICEF has been helping refugee children caught in the midst of war and danger, and how we as individuals can advocate and raise awareness for this major humanitarian crisis.
